Tony & Lynn Worsfold have been in the concrete business for over 20 years. In Christchurch they started a company called concrete plus which became very successful. They formed Paveco Ashburton Ltd about 7 years ago and began manufacturing concrete products from their new factory at 51 Robinson Street, Riverside Industrial Park. 10 staff work for the company and they manufacture pavers of many durable and colourful designs. They are also agents for Village Stone and a brand of tiles called Reptiles. They manufacture lightweight stone veneer and concrete pots. Polished concrete counter tops, fire hearths, cemetery bases and heat pump surrounds. The company also does concrete contracting where they will travel to a site and lay the decorated concrete or stone work. The office and factory premises of Paveco are well presented from which the company retails much of its concrete products and supplies to both the public and the building trade. Concrete sealers, cement adhesives, self levelling products, and colour oxide for colour concrete. Luke Worsfold manages the business in consultation with his parents Tony and Lynn. Luke showed me through the factory and I was impressed at the number of applications that can be made from concrete. Before you decide on your concrete or stone design called in and see the display of ideas at 51 Robinson Street, Riverside Industrial Park Ashburton. Greg Lysaght and Steven Pyke started P & L Glassing Ltd in 1996. They first started trading from the old Wrightsons building where Buntings are today on West Street. They won a contract to refurbish and glass Japanese imported buses for Designline. The company moved to Riverside Industrial park in 1997 working from a building where Advanced maintenance is today. In 2001 Greg Lysaght and his wife Sandy obtained 100% ownership of the business and in 2004 they designed a building across the road which catered for all their needs. Their new building houses office, retail and manufacturing workshop space. The glass department provides a service to the automotive, housing and commercial building industries. They also do call outs and stone chips. The company manufactures wrought iron indoor and outdoor furniture and accessories including such things as fences gates and fireguards. Another major part of their business is the manufacture of Horse coaches, angle loaders and floats. The horse coaches can be designed to hold from 2 to 10 horses plus living accommodation. Sandy showed me through one of the house coaches they had built. It had space for 5 horses and living and sleeping space for up to 5 people. The horse coaches expand sideways when stationary and provide all the comforts of home including lounge kitchen, toilet and shower. The company builds the coaches from the chassis up and they have built over 30 horse coaches in the past 7 years. The company is a real asset to Ashburton employing a staff of 24 people.
